Windows XP to Palm Connection Sharing over Bluetooth
One of the nice things about Windows XP Service Pack 2 is the integrated Bluetooth support. One of the bad things is how that integrated Bluetooth support doesn't do things that the vendor-supplied drivers did (see this Bluetooth Adapter Setup for the Palm Tungsten for some details). With a little bit of effort, you can set up an incoming PPP connection even under Windows XP Home, that lets you use your PC as a Bluetooth LAN Access Point for your Palm. (I'm using the Belkin F8T003 v2 Bluetooth Adapter, which Windows XP Service Pack 2 supports out of the box.) Wacom's Bluetooth Graphics Tablet
Wacom has released their Bluetooth graphics tablet in Japan, the "FAVO Bluetooth Wireless (CTE-630BT)." Though not the first Bluetooth graphics tablet on the market, it is the first from Wacom — a company with a reputation for making the best graphics tablets. It's the same thing as the F-630 FAVO, but with Bluetooth. Since it does have Bluetooth, though, you can use it from up to 30 feet away. UWB and Bluetooth groups working together
The Bluetooth SIG said it plans to work together with Ultra Wideband groups in defining a way to have the two short-range wireless technologies, well, work together. The AP is reporting that the backers of these two personal area network (PAN) protocols are in preliminary talks on finding a way to make existing Bluetooth devices compatible with future UWB devices. Bluetooth is already supported on millions of devices, so this sounds like a win-win-win for Bluetooth, UWB, and consumers. (via
